Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum Review

I've been using Clinique's Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum for 2 weeks now.

The main ingredients are vitamin C, lactic acid, and hyaluronic acid. It's also oil and fragrance free. I appreciate this combination of active ingredients as it takes the guesswork out of wondering what ingredients I can use together.

I apply a few drops after cleansing and before my moisturizer both AM and PM. It has a wonderful texture that absorbs beautifully into my skin. It works well with all my other skincare and doesn't cause any irritation.

After 2 weeks of use, I am pleased that the look of my skin has already improved; it's much clearer, smoother, and brighter. I attribute this mainly to its exfoliating properties.

ABOUT:

Skin Type: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily

Skincare Concerns: Dryness

Highlighted Ingredients:
- Lactic Acid 5%: Exfoliates dulling dead skin cells, helping actives to better sink in.
- Hyaluronic Acid: Moisture-binding ingredient infuses skin with plumping hydration.
- Vitamin C: Powerful antioxidant brightens the look of skin.

Ingredient Callouts: Free of parabens, phthalates, and sulfates SLS & SLES.

I'm very happy with this serum as I already use great skincare, so I wasn't expecting to have such great results.

Makeup Collection | Bronzers

When the makeup hoarder in me wants to go buy a new bronzer because Summer is coming but clearly I don't need any! 🌞😛🙈😂

I gathered up all my bronzers because I knew I didn't need any and I wanted to kill that urge to get something new by looking through my collection. So, I thought I'd share my bronzer collection with y'all.

I mainly use bronzers to add colour to my face and make me look like I have a bit of a tan or at least look like I'm alive and somewhat healthy. That's why I prefer bronzers with a bit of a red undertone vs. something orangy or ashy. I do contour my jawline and nose, but I just use the same bronzer for that purpose as well.

BH Cosmetics Bronze Paradise palette - I use this palette mainly for the eyeshadows but I do use the bronzer in here as a crease shade on my eyes. The bronzer here isn't my favourite formula, but at least it's there for when I might need it during travel etc.

Covergirl Serving Sculpt Palette in Bloom Babe - What an awesome and smooth formula that Covergirl created here! Each powder in this palette is fabulous and the colours are perfect! I know I've shared it on my site before. Definitely one of my favourites and great for travel since you have a highlight, blush, and bronzer in one.

Physicians formula Butter Bronzer in Bronzer & Deep Bronze- I purchased the original shade which is Bronzer, I find it a little muddy on me but I adore the smooth, blendable formula, so I purchase the Deep Bronze when it came out. Although my skin is fair, I much prefer the Deep Bronze shade as it is less cool-toned than the Bronze shade and doesn't look muddy on my skin.

Physicians Formula Bronze Booster in Medium to Dark- As you can see, I've hit pan on this one. TBH, it's so old now I should probably toss it but I really like this one. I do take some packing tape to it once in a while to take off any hardpan that's formed on the top. :)  The tone of this one is perfect and it's not shimmery and not matte. There are little shimmers in the pan but they don't translate on the skin. It's hard to describe but it just makes it so the bronzer doesn't look powdery or flat on my skin. This formula is not as soft as the Butter Bronzer by PF but it still goes on smooth and blends well. This is probably my favourite bronzer of the bunch! It gives me that tanned, kissed-by-the-sun look that I'm after.

Gathering up all my bronzers together has indeed worked and the urge to go purchase a new one is quelled... for now. 😉 I might have to do this with the rest of my makeup collection when I get the urge to shop for something that I don't need. And, I should definitely do this with my closet!

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish and Glow Blush in Pillow Talk Review + Swatches

Featured Product:

After hearing so much about Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk line, I became so intrigued that I just had to try it for myself.

The Pillow Talk line includes this blush, a lip liner, lipstick, and eyeshadow quad. Because of the high price tags, I just wanted to start with one item and see if it lives up to the hype, so I went with the blush.

From Charlotte Tilbury:

Cheek to Chic in Pillow Talk is a two-tone powder blusher in a dusky pink and champagne shimmer shade that will add a kiss of colour to your cheeks.

With luminous gold flecks in each shade, this blush will add an instant healthy sheen to your complexion for a gorgeous glow! Complete your iconic Pillow Talk love story look with this blush, perfectly paired with the new luxury palette, award-winning lip liner and matte lipstick.

WHAT MAKES CHEEK TO CHIC MAGIC:

• Light Flex Technology creates the appearance of capturing light & re-emitting it for a luminous-looking complexion.

• Colour-rich pigments are rolled into finely crushed pearls to create smoother-looking skin with excellent blendability & perfect colour uniformity.

• The secrets to a glowing, just-kissed blush are de-coded into a two-step “SWISH & GLOW” ritual for a flawless looking finish every time

• The formula is buildable for the perfect, healthy, even glow

• Universally-flattering shade suits everyone aged 18-80

• Paraben-free

When I first received the Pillow Talk blush, I thought that it just looked like a bronzer and wasn't sure what to expect. I actually felt a little disappointed by the shade in the pan as it looked quite basic. Well, I was all wrong! This blush really is magical! Read on and I'll share my reasons why...

Although this two-toned blush is described as pink and champagne, I would describe the outer shade as a beautiful rosy bronze shade, while the centre shade appears more peachy on my skin tone. Just one of the great features of this blush is that it would look fabulous on a wide range of skin tones.

The two shades can be worn separately to really sculpt and highlight the face, or you can swirl them together for a beautiful flush and glow. I find that this blush can make you look like a bronze goddess or a natural beauty or both if you choose. Because this blush is in the nude colour family, it goes with any makeup look! The texture is unlike any blush that I've used before. It's not powdery at all, it's sheer yet pigmented and buildable. It isn't glittery either, it just provides a beautiful sheen to the cheeks.

Sometimes I take my time and use the darker shade as kind of a contour/blush and use the centre shade as a highlight on my cheekbones. But, most days, I swirl them together and apply all over my cheek area. I find that this blush serves as my bronzer, blush and highlight, which is amazing for days when I don't want to fuss with multiple products.

This product is fabulous for aging skin as it doesn't accentuate pores or texture and it really gives a lifted look to the face! This alone makes it worth the hefty price tag for me as I age and my face is going south. For this reason, I think CT should update the description of this product from ages 18-80 to 18-100+!

The product does fade slightly throughout the day but I would say the lasting time is excellent!

Trying to capture the sculpt and glow that this gorgeous blush gives

Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk blush is totally worth the hype in my opinion. The only thing I would change is the name, I would call it "sculpt and glow."

If you are looking to treat someone special in your life or even to treat yourself, I highly recommend this blush!

Now I really want to try the eyeshadow in Pillow Talk, too. 😄

MesmorEyes False Eyelashes for Hooded Eyes Review #EyeShapes

I can't believe that up until now, I had never tried false lashes! 🙈 In my younger years, wearing false lashes was not commonplace like it is now. Only the movie stars and models wore them back in the day. Needless to say, I had a lot of fun playing with these lashes!

About:
Collections by MesmorEyes full lashes are hand knotted and feathered from 100% sterilized human hair. Their comfort band technology makes them comfortable to wear. SRP $12.99CAD

Suitable for most eye shapes: almond, monolids, round, and hooded.

The 3 pack that I received contains lashes for Day, Play, and Night. Each with varying degrees of drama. The pack did not contain any glue so I picked that up at the store separately.

Since I had never tried lashes in my life, I was a little worried about how things were going to go, but #MesmorEyesLashes false eyelashes for hooded eyes made it so easy!  It literally took me a few minutes to do both eyes. (*pats self on back).

In the bottom/after picture, I'm wearing the "day" lashes.

There are basically 3 steps:
  1.  Apply after makeup application. Align lash band with natural lash line and trim if necessary
  2.  Apply lash glue along the lash band. Let set for 30 seconds until tacky
  3.  Position lash band above the natural lash line. Press corners down first, then work along the rest of the band, pressing firmly
Note: lashes can be reused. Just rinse gently under warm water to remove lash glue and place lashes back into the tray.

To my surprise, these were so easy to apply and hugged the curve of my hooded eyes perfectly! The band was very flexible and soft. I didn't have to trim them or anything. And, they weren't too heavy looking, so they didn't weigh down the look of my eyes. 👁 The feeling took some getting used to since it was my first time wearing false lashes but I loved the look and how easy they were to apply.

Well, I'm glad I gave these lashes a try. I'm no longer a false eyelash virgin and I'm happy to have lashes that are not only easy to apply but flatter my hooded, aging eyes. Now, I'm ready for anything!

You can check out these lashes and learn more here: MesmorEyes Products

These lashes are available at: Amazon.ca, select Pharmasave, Guardian IDA, and Value Drug Mart Stores.

New! EcoTools Facial Mask Mates Review #maskmate

Featured Product:
EcoTools Facial Mask Mates 4 piece kit / SRP $7.99USD / $10.99CAD
-Includes Applicator brush and 3 mask remover sponges.

This kit is meant to make masking easier and less messy. You apply your mask with the applicator brush and remove your mask with the sponges (used wet).

Although I'm a huge fan of EcoTools and have used their products for years, I have to admit that when I first received this kit I thought it was gimmicky and something that I probably wouldn't use. However, after using it for my at home masking sesh, I was immediately proven wrong and totally sold! Read on to find out why...

The brush in the kit is amazing for a mess-free application! Not only do I not have to get my masks all over my hands but it also allows for a much more precise application. It also keeps things more sanitary as you don't have to stick your hands into your mask jars.

The brush is soft and the shape and size of it make it perfect for applying your mask the contours of your face.

I normally remove my masks with a baby washcloth and I thought that was good! The sponges included in the kit put my baby wash clothes to shame! The sponges are SUPER soft and gentle on the skin. Just add warm water and they easily wipe away your mask without having to scrub. They rinse clean very easily as well.

Tip: Use the mask remover sponges with your cleanser during your everyday skincare routine to remove dirt, oil, and makeup. The sponges will gently exfoliate your skin.

From EcoTools:

The FACIAL MASK MATES set is specially designed for an at-home spa facial experience. This set includes a Mask Applicator Brush + 3 Mask Remover Sponges.

The Mask Applicator Brush is designed with soft, flat bristles to evenly apply cream, gel, or clay masks for full coverage, mess-free. The Mask Remover Sponges, made from natural plant pulp, help to remove excess product while gently exfoliating the skin for a smoother, more radiant appearance.

Good to Know:
  • The brush has an environmentally-friendly bamboo handle and cruelty-free bristles
  • Reusable cellulose sponges are the same quality as those used by spas!
  • Mask Mates packaging can be used as a mixing and application bowl

Makes appliction so easy!
The brush helps with precise application. No more mask gunk in my hair!

Feeling impressed!
I got a little sloppy with my brows but the sponges in the kit removed that in a pinch!

The mask I used here is 7th Heaven Dead Sea Mud Mask which is great for clearing out your pores and left my skin oh so soft! (Full review to come).

After wetting the sponge with warm water, it becomes super soft and removes the mask with ease.

I can't believe how much more gentle these sponges are compared to my baby wash clothes that I used to use. I am converted!

My face feels clean as a whistle and softer than a baby's butt! 👶

If I wasn't holding my camera to snap this picture, I'd be holding 2 thumbs up!

This kit proved me so wrong- it's no gimmick! It absolutely makes masking easier and less messy which makes me want to mask more now. This kit has totally changed my masking game! I was often lazy about masking or just too tired, it felt like a chore because of how messy it could be. Not anymore! Now I want to mask all the time and I just know that my skin is going to thank me!

If you hate the mess of masking too, I bet you will LOVE this kit as well. If you decide to give this kit it a shot I'd love to hear what you thought! 💝

This product is available at select Rexall, Pharma Plus, Pharmasave, London Drugs, Guardian IDA, Lawtons Drugs, Proxim, Brunet, Familiprix, Uniprix stores.
