Best Affordable Eye Creams for Aging, Hooded Eyes!

I suffer from naturally hooded eyes and with aging and gravity setting in, they just get more and more hooded with time. The skin around my eyes has also become drier with age, so I look for eye creams that will target both of these issues. I do have crows feet and some wrinkling but they don't bother me as much as the dryness and hooding.

I've tried tons of eye creams from high-end to drugstore and the two that I'm sharing in this post have given me the best results in terms of targeting these issues, especially the hooding and they are both affordable!

This is the pricier of the two but it is more accessible as you can pick it up at any drugstore. Honestly, this one and the next one that I'll talk about do the same thing for my eyes which is why I'm sharing both. They both hydrate the dry skin around my eyes which helps reduce the appearance of my lines, but more importantly to me, they both help reduce the droop of my upper eyelids. However, with both creams, the effect is temporary. I have yet to find an eye cream that reduces the hooding/drooping permanently.

The one thing that I don't find these help with much is the puffiness underneath my eyes. I have yet to find an eye cream that makes a noticeable difference in my undereye bags. I was told by a plastic surgeon that surgery to remove the pockets of fat is the only way.

Home Health Goji Berry Eye Cream 1oz / $13

I've been using this eye cream on and off for so long, I remember when it was a whopping $7 per jar! This eye cream gives me the same effects as the Olay one above. It hydrates my eyes and temporarily improves the drooping of my upper eyelids. Neither one helps with my undereye bags/puffiness in a noticeable way.

The biggest differences between the two are that the Home Health one is 1 oz vs. 13ml for Olay. Happy Fall, everyone! For the first time in my life, I'm actually glad that summer is over and the cooler weather is here! Was it just me or was this summer a hot one!?

Today's post is all about the eyes and a product by Olay that I am testing out.

I was very fortunate to get the opportunity to test out Olay's Ultimate Eye Cream through BzzAgent.

This eye cream is supposed to tackle multiple eye issues, including dark circles, wrinkles, and puffiness. Since I have all 3 issues I was a good candidate for this product.

The product is a salmon colour but blends out so there is no colour detectable. There is no scent and it is very emollient and moisturizing. 

I used the product for two weeks in the photo below. I am not wearing anything but Olay's Ultimate Eye Cream in the before and after photo, no makeup or anything as I wanted the effects that I experience to be clear. As you can see, the product helped a lot with the hooding on my eyes but not so much with the under-eye bags/puffs. I also noticed a significant reduction in the depth of my crows feet (which only appear when I smile).

I'd like to see the long-term effects as the lift to my upper eye hooding seems to be a temporary effect for now.

I am very happy with the effects and how moisturizing this product is. You only need the tiniest amount for each eye so the 13ml tub will last for a long time.

I can see why this product is so highly rated, it's even rated as best in beauty eye gel by Allure magazine. It's made up of some major players in the anti-aging game. In my mid-late 40's my face has seen it's fair share of the damaging effects of the sun. My left eye has very deep crows feet but my right eye has very mild crows feet. This is the result from years of driving to and from work and proof that the sun penetrates even the windows of our cars.

I also have hooded eyes and it's much more prominent on my right eye.

These factors served as a good test for the efficacy of this product as I could compare the "bad eye" to the "good eye" with each issue.

I feel like this is more of a treatment than a moisturizer after seeing my results, but even with my super dehydrated skin I do not require a moisturizer on top of it.

The lines have become much more shallow and plumped up. It's really quite a noticeable improvement and I saw a difference in this area rather quickly.

I also noticed an improvement in the hooding of my eyes, they are still hooded but not nearly as much! I would say there is about a 70% improvement in the hooding of my eyes. I also have hereditary puffs under my eyes and also from lack of sleep. I have seen a plastic surgeon who advised me that the type of puffiness I had was hereditary and caused by pockets of fat and that the only way to get rid of this was by surgically removing the fat. So, while I saw a bit of improvement in my under eye puffs it wasn't as much as I was hoping for . A cream or gel can only do so much when it's a structural issues I guess. It seems that this eye gel is helping me with the puffs above my eyes aka. the hooding, but not below my eyes.

I am ecstatic everyday when I look in the mirror and I see my eyelids staring at me instead of a pocket of fat hanging over my eyelid!  This change has been the most dramatic for me and took more time to see results than it did to see the reduction in crows feet.

It's so important not to use your face cream on your eyes, especially as we age. The skin around our eyes is much thinner and heavy creams can cause milia (small bumps) to form and also make under eye bags worse.
