Vichy's Capitol Soleil Ulta-hydrating UV lotion for face and body with SPF 60 recently landed on my desk and I'm loving it! 🌞 

I grew up in the 70's, 80's, and 90's and was a sun worshipper. We would lay out in the sun and slathered ourselves in baby oil and often competed with friends on who could get the darkest! ugh, if I only knew then what I know now! Now if I expose my face to the sun, I can get pretty bad melasma which leaves my skin with dark patches all over and it's not a pretty sight. It's not all about beauty though, we need to be diligent about sun protection to prevent skin cancer, too. If I know I'm going to be out in the sun for some time, I will not only wear my sunscreen but also a hat.

I've been using this sunscreen for a few weeks now, and I'm impressed. I love that it's in a nice-sized squeeze bottle (200ml), and is good for both the face and the body. It contains hyaluronic acid and other skin-loving ingredients as well as broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection. It's also water and sweat-resistant for up to 40 minutes.

The texture is lightweight, and it blends into my skin very easily. It doesn't leave any white cast whatsoever. I use it as the last step in my morning skincare routine. It smells like sunscreen, but there are no added fragrances, which I appreciate. Best of all, it is SPF 60, so I really feel protected from the damaging and aging UVA and UVB rays.

The formula is lightweight, so it blends quickly and easily with no white cast.

When applying your sunscreen, don't forget the skin on the back of your hands. The skin here is very delicate and prone to age spots. People's hands often give away their age as many of us (self-included) often forget to take care of the skin on our hands. A good rule of thumb is to apply your facial skincare to the backs of your hands.

I'm truly impressed by this product. Not only does it provide fabulous protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays, it also provides long-lasting hydration and helps to keep my skin looking more youthful. I don't really have the patience for sunscreens that don't blend easily and leave a white cast, which is another reason to love this product as it does neither of those things. The fact that this large size bottle can be used on both the face and body is another win for me!

New! Garnier All-in-1 Perfecting Care BB Cream Review

Happy Sunday, everyone!

Today, I want to share with you this exciting new skincare/makeup hybrid product that I recently started using. 

I received Garnier's new All-in-1 Perfecting Care BB Cream in the shade Light/Medium from @topbox and @garniercan for testing purposes and I have to say, I've been loving it!

This product is perfect for my aging and dehydrated skin. It's very hydrating yet lightweight as it's enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, Aloe Vera Extracts & Mineral Pigments For a Natural finish. It's easy to apply and blends beautifully. 

I find that my skin looks younger when I use this product, and it gives me a beautiful glow. It has medium coverage and isn't heavy or cakey. It evens out my skin tone, yet I can still see my skin through it, but my skin looks more perfected. It also gives my pale skin some colour, which makes me look healthier and more rested, even if I'm not. It has a thin consistency which spreads out easily, and I only need a small amount, especially since I apply it on top of my moisturizer. I definitely need to powder on top of it, which I would do anyway since I have quite an oily T-zone.

I put a little too much on here. Just a tiny amount blends into my skin very nicely

This is one of those products that I like to wear on a day-to-day basis. It's great for no-makeup-makeup days as it gives me much-needed colour and evens out my skin. Even if I'm not doing much, I like to wear this BB Cream because it makes me look better, and when I look better I feel better. I've never been one to wear heavy foundations as I find they can make me look older. Yet, products like Garnier's BB Cream do the complete opposite and make me appear more youthful, and that's something that I am always down for!

This product is suitable for all skin types. I haven't experienced any breakouts or irritation. It's actually quite soothing on my skin. It's currently available in limited shades and seems to vary from country to country. So far, I have found it in the shades light, light/medium, medium, and deep.  Garnier's website has a skin coach tool that can help you find the right products for your skin type using AI. Hopefully, you find one that works for your skin tone.

Garnier's BB Cream is affordably priced at $13USD (currently), and the 50ml bottle should last for quite a while as a little product goes a long way.

Best Firming Face and Neck Serum | No 7 Firming Booster Serum

I've been into skincare since I was about 16 years old when my friends and I would go to Shoppers Drug Mart and purchase Loreal's Eye Cream. Even though I thought I had been pretty diligent about my skincare over the years, I must not have paid enough attention to my neck area, which is really the area that needs the most care as the skin is thinner and will most likely show the signs of aging the most as we age. Once the signs of aging show in the neck, it can be very difficult to treat without medical intervention. 

Now that I'm in my fifties, it seems like the signs of aging showed up on my neck overnight! This, on top of the fact that my oval face shape shows signs of aging in the form of sagging, has led me down the rabbit hole of trying every firming/ neck product that I came across, so I have tried many! 

Out of all of the firming/ neck products I have tried, I finally found the one that works best for me. It's No7 laboratories Firming Booster Serum.

No7 Laboratories Firming Booster Serum is our most concentrated firming serum and is formulated to be applied directly to the skin in areas that are most prone to loss of firmness, such as the neck and jawline.

The serum comes in a squeeze tube and has 5 small metal rollerballs around the opening where the product dispenses. You only need a peppercorn size of product for each area; one for each side of the mouth going up to the brow, and one for the neck and jaw area. I do use the roller balls to apply the serum to each side of my face but I normally just use my fingers to massage the product upward on my neck area. 

After using this product along with all of my other skincare, I saw a noticeable difference after about a week. This is one of those products that really does what it claims and I am so happy! I barely even remember what my neck looked like before I started using this serum. I did stop using it to try out another neck/ firming cream and my neck went back to how it looked before I started this serum, so I was pretty happy to go back to No7 Booster Serum! The sagging has improved so much, my skin in firmer and the small little sagging ball of wrinkles that were forming in the center of my neck are all but gone! I was seriously considering surgery. Not to say I'll never have surgery, but for now, I'm good! There is also some firming around my jawline but the most noticeable difference is to my neck area. 

This serum addressed what bothered me the most (the sagging ball of wrinkles in the center of my neck). I think the other issue that bothers me, like some excess fat in my neck area, would best be addressed with improvements to my diet and more exercise.

Keep twist top in "off" position when not in use.

The tube has a twist top that keeps the product fresh. Just twist to the ON position to dispense the serum. Then using the rollerball head, apply to each area of the face with upward motions. As per the directions, I apply from my jaw upward to my brow on each side of my face, and then apply to my neck. Follow up with any other skincare products you choose.

The serum is thin and blends into the skin beautifully. It leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated without any greasy residue. I notice a very slight fragrance but nothing bothersome. 

Because this is a booster serum, it can layered with many other skincare products. In fact, I've yet to find something that it cannot be layered with. I always start my skincare with this booster serum first and then apply my other products. It would probably work well with No7's other products as well. I actually discovered this Booster Serum when I was looking into repurchasing No7's Restore and Renew Face and Neck Serum. I had so many other products to finish up that I decided to give the Booster Serum a try as it sounded so good and could be used with my other serums that I needed to finish up. 

I'm so glad that I decided to give No7 Booster Serum a chance. So many products don't live up to their claims but this serum really does! The price is very reasonable and the product lasts for a long time. I'm actually just starting my second tube and I don't think I'll ever stop using it!

Hopefully, my neck will never give away my age now!

Elf Tan Lines Putty Bronzer Review + A Dupe

Elf's Putty Bronzer in Tan Lines

I've heard so much about Elf's Putty Bronzer and it's at such an affordable price that I just had to try it for myself, especially since I'm a major bronzer junkie and I want to try ALL the bronzers! I purchased mine on Amazon for $8 CAD.

It's quite a small size (.35oz) but the pan does accommodate my face brushes and I do appreciate that it takes up little space. 

My skin tone is fairly light and neutral in tone, leaning warmer. The shade, Tan Lines, is more on the warm side but quite sheer. I found it difficult to get the bronzer to show up on my skin, perhaps I need a shade darker. I also found it difficult to pick up the product with any of my makeup brushes, including synthetic ones. It also did not apply well with my fingers. I found the formula a bit on the greasy side. I know it contains some lovely ingredients but the formula seems very sheer and thin to me.

In this post, I am comparing it to my other cream bronzer by Wet N Wild which is in a convenient stick formula and has a similar tone.

As you can see, Wet n Wild Oaks on You is much more pigmented but has a very similar tone to Elf's Tan Lines.

I find the Wet n Wild bronzer applies MUCH more easily and has much more pigment to it. I can just swipe the Wet n Wild bronzer onto my skin and it blends out easily. It also has much more staying power as the formula is a bit dryer and not "greasy" like Elf's Putty Bronzer.

I realize that Elf has a brush that is meant to be used with their cream/putty products but I really don't want to have to purchase a new brush just for this bronzer. Perhaps it would work better with Elf's brush. 

I am disappointed with Elf's Putty Bronzer in Tan Lines. Perhaps I would do better with a darker shade from this line or maybe the formula is just not for me. I find it too light, too sheer, too difficult to pick up with any of my brushes, and too difficult to apply. I also find the formula sort of greasy and therefore the staying power is not great. I love a lot of Elf's products, just not this one. If you have a very fair skin tone or prefer very light bronzers, you may like this one. 

If you are looking for an affordable cream bronzer, I would definitely recommend Wet n Wiild's MegaGlo Makeup Stick over Elf's Putty Bronzer. Wet n Wild's Bronzer comes in a very convenient stick formula, it's easy to work with, has great staying power, and is very affordable at only $4.49 USD. It also comes in several other shades. I also love the MegaGlo Makeup Stick cream blushes by Wet n Wild, especially the shade Peach Bums, it's an all-time favourite of mine (read more about this blush and see swatches here).

Weekly Favourite | Tweezerman Smooth Finish Facial Hair Remover

I can't believe I almost never tried this week's favourite! I've had this Tweezerman Smooth Finish Facial Hair Remover sitting around for a while and I almost got rid of it. I thought it was just another gadget that I didn't need. Holy cow, was I wrong! This "gadget" turned into a "where have you been all of my life item!"

This stainless steel contraption easily and effortlessly removes unwanted hair from my face, neck, chin, cheeks, and upper lip, right in the comfort of my own home. And it takes no time at all!

It all started when I pulled out my favourite 10X magnification light-up mirror (another can't live without item) one day to see how my skin REALLY looked before proceeding with some self-care masking. That's when I noticed more hair that was in places that I prefer it wasn't; neck, upper lip, chin etc. It's very common for unwanted facial hair to appear as we age. Sometimes other factors can cause it as well but if you want to get rid of it, this tool has got you!!

There was a very small learning curve. I'm not one for reading directions, so I googled it and watched a Youtube video on how to use it and I was off and running. 

It was so easy to use and literally took seconds to remove the hair from each area. By gliding the stainless steel part along the area that I wanted to treat and turning the silver bars on either side of the hair remover, I could feel it removing all of the hair. It removed everything from peach fuzz to thick hair that was sprouting above the sides of my upper lips. I definitely felt the pinch as it removed the hair but it was very tolerable and extremely gratifying once I saw my skin sans hair!

How to use:

1. Holding the colored handles, center align the top of coil tip directly on to the area from which you are trying to remove hair.
2. When aligning the tip, place the flatter side of the coil against the skin to use on larger areas. Place the curved part against the skin for smaller, more precise areas.
3. Rotate the silver part of the handle in each hand in the direction the arrows are pointing, enabling the coil to directly grab the hair from the root.
4. Gently move the Smooth Finish Facial Hair Remover away from the area and repeat on other areas as desired.

After using this hair remover for a couple of weeks now, I never want to be without it! My skin looks so much better and fresher and cleaner without the hair- I really wish I had taken a before and after! My makeup goes on better and I'm certain that my skincare products are being absorbed into my skin better also. I did not experience any redness, bumps or irritation whatsoever. I have found that I only need to use it once a week to maintain a hair-free face. :D As I mentioned, it takes seconds and is so easy to use. Once I finish treatment, I just wipe the stainless steel with alcohol and I'm done. 

I seriously wish I had this product so much sooner and will never be without it! Give it a try if you are looking to remove facial hair and home. I promise you will love it, too!

L'Oréal Hyaluron Plump Shampoo and Conditioner Review

I had heard about Hyaluronic acid for healthier hair, so I tried to DIY my own by using my Hyaluronic acid skincare for my hair, but it was a complete fail.

After my failed DIY attempt, I was hesitant that Hyaluronic acid would work for my hair. I couldn't have been more wrong!

L'oreal's Hyaluron Plump shampoo and conditioner have worked wonders on my naturally frizzy, dry, damaged, and bleached hair. My hair is not only fresh and clean, but it's now smooth, has virtually zero frizz, and the rough texture is gone. And, it's first time I've seen my hair have shine without adding any shine products.

Both the shampoo and conditioner have a light, fresh scent. The shampoo lathers up and cleanses my hair in one shot. I only wash my hair 2x a week, so it can feel quite dirty, yet I only need to lather up once with the shampoo. My hair is left feeling fresh, clean, and hydrated. I use quite a bit more of the conditioner and leave it on for probably about 5 minutes while I wash up. It doesn't weigh my hair down at all, and my hair feels silky and hydrated. I follow up with my usual leave-in treatments and style as usual. 

I have spent a fortune on hair products,  mostly using high end , trying to get the results that L'Oréal Hyaluron Plump has given me. I am honestly shocked and wasn't expecting the results that I got. L'Oréal's Hyaluron Plump actually works better than all of the high end products that I've used in terms of getting my hair to look and feel healthy and smooth. After all, I'm not only after hair that is healthy, but hair that also looks good, and L'Oréal's Hyaluron Plump has given that to me. 

If you have hair that is dry, damaged, and dehydrated, I highly recommend you give these a try. Don't get me wrong, I will still use treatments on my hair to try and improve the condition of it, but as for getting my hair to look and feel healthier, smoother, and look better overall, these products by L'Oréal have outdone any other shampoo and conditioner that I've tried so far. I'm officially calling these the Frizz Busters! 💦 

After the amazing results I've experienced, I  will definitely be trying any other products that I can find from this line!

All photos taking in natural daylight during the daytime. No filters so you can see the colours as true as possible. It's difficult to capture the beautiful sparkle in some of the shimmer shades.

I love a classy nude nail, so I decided to wear a full mani using the shade Rainwear Don't Care (2 coats shown above).

I found that 2 coats were enough for me to get full opacity with the cream shades. Two coats were also enough for the shimmer shades, although they can all be built up to 3 coats if you prefer. Each polish has the typical Essie brush which makes it easy and quick to complete a manicure. I found that the Rainwear Don't Care (nude) shade had a runnier consistency than the others. I was happy that the shimmers were easy to remove with regular nail polish remover- no scrubbing required. 

The possibilities are endless of what you can create using the stunning shades and finishes in this collection.

It's difficult to pick favourites here as they are all so unique! I am not usually a fan of green shades but the muted mint/pistachio shade (Can Dew Attitude) is stunning, and the gorgeous sunny creamsicle shade (Feeling Wellies) just makes me happy and it makes such a fresh-looking pedicure! 💅

Best New Discovery For A Youthful Summer Glow | Peach Bums Blush

I had to share this gem of a find with y'all! It's Peach Bums Mega Glo blush by Wet n Wild. It's a new addition to my makeup collection and I can't stop wearing it! 

I have read some compare this blush to Nars Orgasm blush, which I have tried but am not really a fan of due to the super gold sheen that I find it leaves on my cheeks. This blush is better in my opinion. and it's only $3.99 USD! 

I don't always go for peachy shades as I tend to suit pinks more but I have to say, this blush leaves the most beautiful flush of colour on my cheeks and imparts the most beautiful glow! It actually gives me the illusion of a cheek lift, so to speak. 

One caveat, Peach Bums does have some micro glitter which I am not a fan of, but I have not found anything else that can replace this beautiful shade, glow, and instant cheek lift that Peach Bums gives me, so I'll take it, glitter and all! Keep in mind that the glitter only shows up in certain lighting.

Wet N Wild Mega Glo Blush in Peach Bums

Peach Bums is a multi-dimensional blush. It's kind of hard to describe. It's kind of of a peach, kind of coral, and kind of like a rose gold. It has a beautiful sheen on the skin, so you don't need to wear a highlighter.

This beautiful coral coloured blush is super easy to apply. With a few swipes straight from the tube to my cheeks and a little blending with ELF's small synthetic brush and I'm done! No need for a highlighter or anything else. The glow and the flush from this cream blush is just amazing! My cheeks look lifted and the staying power is great. It's easy to just throw in your purse for touch-ups if you want as well.

I love to use cream products on my aging skin as they can impart a more youthful and dewy look to the skin vs. some powders that can look cakey and/or aging on the skin, especially in natural daylight. I am also loving cream products more and more in the Summertime. It started off with Wet N Wild's cream bronzer in Oak's on You just a month ago. I've enjoyed using that bronzer so much now that the warmer weather is here so I had to try this blush out. Am I ever glad that I did! I just might have to try more from Wet n Wild's Mega Glo Cream product line. 

Wet N Wild Peach Bums Cream Blush has 6 grams of product and is cruelty-free. At only $3.99, I wouldn't pass this little gem up!
