$6 Dupe for Marc Jacobs Shameless Youthful-Look Longwear Foundation!

Sometimes I wonder if I'm missing out as I mostly use very inexpensive makeup products. So I wonder, would I look better if I used high-end products instead?! 🤔 Then I find some fabulous, inexpensive dupes to some high end products and realize that I don't have to spend a lot to get the look for less!

The love for dupes keeps growing and growing because of the sharpness and affordability they bring to the table. I recently came across a Goyard dupe that was absolutely identical to the original.

And then, I also stumbled upon Marc Jacobs Shameless Youthful Look Longwear Foundation at my local Marshall's and it was on clearance for only $7 (Retail approx. $60 for 32ml). The shade I found "light R250" looked like the perfect shade for my skintone, so of course I couldn't leave it at the store!

Note: It was not expired when I purchased it back around March

Marc Jacobs Shameless foundation IS perfect for my dehydrated and aging skin, and the shade "light R250" was a pretty darn good match for my light- medium skintone with neutral undertones. It's available in 29 shade options at this time.

It blends so easily into my skin and is not cakey at all. It's actually quite hydrating and has light-medium coverage with a skin-like finish. This is right up my alley in terms of a base for my face. I've never liked heavy or full coverage foundations. This one has just enough coverage and makes my skin look so healthy by adding a bit of colour, hydration, and dew!

Months later, I stumbled across Elf Cosmetics BB Cream for only $6 (28.5ml), (which I've also spotted at Marshall's). It too sounded like the type of face product that I like to wear on the daily. It claims to minimize fine lines and also contains hydrating ingredients like vitamin E, jojoba, aloe, and cucumber. I purchased the colour Buff, which is a tad darker than my skintone but it blends into my skin no problem and doesn't appear too dark once blended.

As soon as I applied Elf's BB Cream, it immediately reminded me of the Marc Jacobs one I had been using. So, I decided to test them out by applying each one to half of my face and wore them for an entire day just to see how alike they really are.

I am happy to report that the texture, formula, and finish are the same for both products! Although, ELF's BB Cream might have a tad bit more coverage. They are both super hydrating and give my skin the same look. And, despite the colour difference in the swatches, once I blend them into my skin, I don't see any difference. Hence why I was able to wear both at the same time with each one on one side of my face.

Elf's BB Cream has SPF 20 and has only 3.5ml less product than Marc Jacobs. While Marc Jacobs has SPF 25. Marc Jacobs BB cream also has "Flashback-free innovation." I didn't see any flashback claims with Elf's.

Other than those minor differences, these products perform the same for me. Both are super easy to blend with light-medium coverage. Both are very hydrating leaving the skin with a youthful look.

At the time of this writing,  Marc Jacobs comes in 29 shade options, while ELF'S comes in only 7, which may make ELF'S a deal breaker if you can't find your shade.

Left: ELF in Buff / Right: Marc Jacobs R250

Despite the shade difference in the swatches, they look the same on my skin once blended.

These are a definite dupe, in my opinion, and I find no reason to spend more. In this case, I don't have to spend a lot of money to get the look of a high end product for much less! Don't get me wrong, there are still times where I prefer something high end, like Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk blush... nothing has compared to that one yet!

Note: You may want to spend more if the flashback technology with Marc Jacob's product is important to your for a special occasion.

You can't go wrong with either one of these as they are both fabulous products, especially for dry or dehydrated, or aging skin!

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer in Bronzer #Review

I finally "hit pan" on my Physician's Formula Butter Bronzer in the shade Bronzer. This bronzer definitely took time to grow on me. The formula is fabulous, it's soft and buttery just as the name implies. The shade can look a little muddy on me though because I find the Bronzer shade to be more of a contour shade, so I use a light hand. I like to bronze all over for a sunkissed look, because of this, I actually prefer bronzers with a bit of a red undertone to mimic a fake tan. I find the darker shade from this line "Dark Bronzer" (which is waiting patiently in the wings for me to use it) has more of a red undertone, so I prefer that one for an all over bronzed up look . These bronzers do have a sweet tropical scent which fades once applied. I'm really not offended nor sold by the scent. I actually prefer unscented beauty products but it wouldn't stop me from purchasing this product.

My all-time favourite bronzer is still Laura Geller's Bronze n' Brighten and it's been my favourite for at least 10 years! But since I like to try new products, I had purchased the Butter Bronzers to give them a go. You never know if you'll find a new favourite, eh? Until I use this up, I will alternate my PF Butter Bronzers and my Laura Geller one, which I use in medium, btw.

Overall, the formula is fantastic and now there are 4 shades to choose from Light, BronzerDeep,  and Sunkissed, so there is something for everyone. Physician's Formula is a Cruelty-free brand. Plus, they are accessible and affordable if you wait for a sale. Right now all shades are half price at $7.69 on Amazon.com.

What's your favourite bronzer?

Hope everyone has a great week ahead.

Shopping Haul From Winners, Marshall's, Sally's Beauty Supply and More!

Here's another random shopping haul from this week.  I figured I'd share my purchases just in case any of you are interested in these products. As you know, the items from Winners and Marshalls come and go, so it's just a matter of checking the stores near you. I think in the USA they have online shopping, at least for TJMaxx (the parent company), that would be nice, wouldn't it?!

I think I scored some great deals! Let's check them out...

Note: I used stock photos for a couple of items because the sun went down before I could get photos of the items, but I still wanted to share them with you.

Puma baseball cap was on clearance for $8 at Winners! Retail is around $30! Similar linked HERE.

I tried a sample of this L'oreal sugar and grapeseed scrub and knew that I wanted to purchase it. So, I was lucky when I saw them at Winners for $7.99! They retail for $13.97 at Walmart (shown below).

Next up, I scored these Spa Bella double lined aloe infused socks for only $3 (compare at price is $12). They are super thick and cozy!

I've had my eye on this Charged bracelet and was lucky that it was still in the store and it was on clearance for only $12. Retail is $25. It has 18k gold plating, silver plating as well as semi-precious opal gemstones. The stones are charged in a Sedona Vortex. Opal is said to be good for prosperity. I couldn't find this one online but here's a link to the brand's website.

I was eyeballing a cat hut just like this at my local pet store the other day and it was $42. When I saw this at Marshalls for only $25, I knew we had to give it a try. Cats are super picky, so I wasn't sure if my Rocky would like it or not. He was perplexed at first as you can probably see in the photo (this was his first time inside it). Now that he's had it for a day and a half, he loves it!

Because of the fabulous design, he can use it for sleeping, hanging out, playing etc. He's enclosed but not completely covered so he can see what's going on around him. The one at the pet store had a design where he would have been completely enclosed and unable to see what's going on around him, so this design is much better for cats. The matt inside is reversible with a different texture on either side, one side for cooler weather and the other for warmer weather. It's also machine washable. The brand is Best Friends By Sheri and can be purchased HERE.
I read some great reviews about the above adrenal support supplement, Adrenasmart. I recently had my blood work done and some things need to improve. My thyroid is still out of wack along with very high cortisol which explains my early morning awakenings. Hopefully, this supplement will help out. Most of the reviewers claimed it helped to stop the early morning awakenings. 🤞

Lastly, I picked up my favourite Wet 'N Dry detangling brush at Sally's Beauty Supply because my cat stole mine! He steals all of my brushes. We shared this for a while and I would spritz it with alcohol after using it on him so it was clean for me but I finally gave up and let him have his own. :D Anyhoo, this is my favourite brush for detangling wet hair because it's so gentle and it's also my favourite for brushing out my dry hair. I just don't use it for blow drying.

Hope you enjoyed seeing what I purchased this week and hope you can get your hands on any items that you have your eye on.

Have a great week ahead!

Day 2: #lipstickleague Photo Challenge: Current Hair Care Love

Today is day 2 of the #lipstickleague photo challenge. Today's challenge is to post our current hair care love. Here is a link to the original post for the #lipstickleague May photo challenge including the chart with the challenges as well as who are the #lipstickleague? if you're curious. ;)

I thought I would do a quick blog post about it since it's beauty related and I really want to share this one with those who may not have Instagram.

My current hair care love is North American Hemp Co's "Never Too Late to Repair Deep Hair Treatment Oil" I bought this on the recommendation of a friend. I use this oil every time I wash my hair.  Regardless of whatever styling products I decide on, I mix this in with it which helps it to spread throughout your hair more easily since it's a blend of oils and not a silicone based product.  Unlike other oils that sit on the hair, this one really seems to penetrates the hair, and my hair is healthier from using it. I only use 1 pump, a little goes a long way! You can use it on wet or dry hair but if your hair is fine use very little. I imagine this would also be great on thick or ethnic hair types.

Directions: Add a little to damp hair for shine that lasts all day. Leave on overnight for the ultimate hair and scalp rejuvenation, for tomorrow’s brilliant frizz-free style.

Ingredients: Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed oil, Sesame (Sesamum indicum) oil, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) oil, Olea europaea (Olive) fruit oil, Orange (Citrus Aurantium Dulcis) Oil Flavour

I found mine at a Winners or Marshalls for only $6.99.

What hair products have you been loving?
