Best in Beauty | Anua K Beauty Skincare Review #yesstyle

I know I'm late to the K beauty bus, but as they say, better late than never!

I've been testing out the K-beauty brand, Anua Skincare, courtesy of YesStyle.

I chose to try their Azelaic Serum Set for calming and soothing, and I'm super impressed. I saw a huge difference after one use! After a rough night, it was really showing on my face the next morning. I started using Anua skincare that morning, and it transformed my skin right away!

These products not only soothe and hydrate, but also tackle redness and dark spots. I've been using these products for a week now, and I can't rave about them enough! My skin looks more awake, much clearer, brighter - redness is gone, my skintone is more even. The products are so hydrating and unbelievably soothing to my dehydrated and aging skin.  Keep on reading to learn more about this simple but effective routine that repaired my skin barrier.

I'm loving this simple but thorough skincare routine. I start with a gentle cleanse, then follow up with the AM and PM routine as outlined below.

Product used:
✨️ Step 1- Azelaic 10 + Hyaluron redness soothing pad
✨️ Step 2- Azelaic Acid 10 Hyaluron Redness Soothing Serum
✨️ Step 3/PM- PDRN Hyaluron Acid 100 Moisturizer Cream
✨️ Step 3/AM - Zero Cast Moisturizing Finish Sunscreen SPF 50+
✨️ Weekly treatment- Heartleaf 70 + Hyaluron Soothing Collagen Mask

Active Ingredients: azelaic acid for spot care and redness soothing, plus hyaluronic acid for hydration.

These soothing pads come with a small pair of tweezers to select a pad, making it convenient and hygienic. The pads are very thin and saturated with skincare goodness! They are incredibly soothing to my dehydrated skin! Seriously, each step in this routine just adds another layer of hydration and feels like a lot of TLC (tender loving care) for my skin.  These pads can be used AM and PM, and/or mixed with your other skincare.

Active ingredients: 10% Azelaic Acid, 3 Types of Hyaluronic Acid, ANUA Genlte Calming Complex.

This serum is like a drink of water for my skin. It instantly soothes my skin and helps with skin texture.

Active Ingredients: sunscreen offers SPF 50 broad-spectrum protection with 80-minute water resistance, shielding the skin from UVA/UVB rays. Formulated with Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin.

The sun is the biggest cause of aging to our skin. I always wear sunscreen now. I wish my younger self were aware of the damaging rays of the sun so I could have prevented a lot of aging to my skin. I definitely feel protected from further aging of my skin by wearing this SPF 50 every single day!

Active Ingredients: Formulated with PDRN derived from salmon DNA, this daily moisturizing cream helps maintain long-lasting hydration while enhancing a healthy, natural glow.

I use this moisturizer at night after the serum. It was surprisingly hydrating for such a lightweight moisturizer. It's not greasy but imparts lasting hydration.

Active Ingredients: Anua’s exclusive HEARTLEAF+ complex, Hyaluron, and collagen synergy help soothe and calm the skin, deeply nourish it.

These masks are such a treat for my skin, just like this entire line of products. I have gifted these masks to friends and family, and they have all come back to rave about them!

So far, my skin and I are thrilled! My aging skin looks more youthful and brighter in such a short time. I can't wait to see the long-term benefits.  The products work so well together. It's a simple routine that's extremely effective and SO affordable! These products work better than some very high-end brands, and the prices can't be beat! I am completely sold and highly recommend them!

How to treat Mascne / Acne Naturally with Neem Oil

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! 🐔

Today, I wanted to share what I'm using to combat my #mascne 😷

This little bottle of stinky Neem oil is magic for pimples, skin health, and anti aging in general. I used it years ago, then stopped after running out and forgot about it. After breaking out recently from wearing masks, I recalled this oil and immediately got a new bottle and after 2 nights, it's already clearing everything up. I just add a few drops to my moisturizer or apply directly to my skin. 💧 I have tried several brands of Neem Oil and find that Theraneem is the best. It was also recommended to me by a reputable esthetician.

Neem oil is antibacterial and antifungal.  It's great for wrinkles, building collagen, treating acne, reducing scars and so much more. It can also repell mosquitoes! It has so many more uses, too many to list here. 📃

If you want something to clear up your acne that won't wreck your skin, but will actually improve it in many ways, definitely give this a try. It's inexpensive too. The smell is hard to describe but it definitely takes getting used to!

Some of neem oils beneficial ingredients:
  • Fatty acids (EFA)
  • limonoids
  • vitamin E
  • triglycerides
  • antioxidants
  • calcium
Neem oil can treat many skin conditions, including psoriasis and eczema.

A PLASTIC SURGEON UNVEILS BEAUTY HACKS THAT WILL COST YOU LESS THAN A STARBUCKS COFFEE

We all know that cosmetic-plastic surgeons and dermatologists earn their living by operating or non- invasive procedures. Most of these endeavors are costly for patients.  It’s rare that any aesthetic surgeon will let us in on things we can do daily that don’t require us to visit them!  We are fortunate to have Dr. Manish Shah, a Denver board -certified plastic surgeon share secrets with us, that in many cases cost nothing or less than a gourmet cup of coffee.

DR. MANISH SHAH’S TOP BEAUTY HACKS

1.    Cleaning your phone screens – Dr. Shah offers that, “A great way to avoid blemishes is to routinely clean the makeup and bacteria off of your phone screens. It is easy to spread harmful skin bacteria from the surface of your phone. Washing your hands goes a long way to avoid skin contamination as well.”

2.    Make your own exfoliating scrub at home – Dr. Shah shares that, “A woman I consider my second mother taught me how to create my own organic exfoliating scrub. She would dry peeled skins of oranges, lemons, and limes in the sun. She would then finely grate the white inside rind of the peel and then mix it with any facial cleanser or even add it to fine facial oils. Using the scrub would exfoliate the skin, treat it with Vitamin C, and prevent over-drying of the skin because of the fruit oils.”

3.    I recommend treating the enlarged pores of the T-zone with over the counter hydrogen peroxide. The bacteria in the pores create inflammation that increases pore size, and this leads to blackheads and whiteheads. Dr. Shah explains that, “These bacteria can’t survive in high oxygen environments. 3% hydrogen peroxide is available over the counter quite inexpensively. Treating only the T-zone at night kills the bacteria, reduces pore size and blemishes. Because it can be quite drying, takes breaks from its use every now and then.”

4.    Avoid fake nails. They harbor tons of bacteria that are easily transferred to the face when you touch your face. Instead, focus on growing your own nails with the help of oral vitamin C and any good quality hair, skin, and nail vitamin-like Nature’s Bounty Extra Strength Hair, Skin, and Nails.

5.    For teens, especially, it is so important to wash their pillowcases routinely. Dr. Shah is the father of three teens. From his first-hand knowledge, he says that “Teens aren’t very compliant when it comes to skincare and they suffer from hormones in a bad way. This 1-2 punch makes acne and blemishes the bane of most teens’ existence. Going to sleep at night on clean pillowcases after washing your face goes a long way to reducing the bacterial burden and allows blemishes to heal.”

6.    If you suffer from puffiness around the eyes, a quick trick is to use black tea bags. Wet them in ice water and lay them onto the eyes to soothe. The caffeine in the black tea causes blood vessels to constrict, reducing edema or swelling in the delicate, thin eyelid tissues.

7.    Add baking soda to your toothpaste to easily polish away stains to keep your teeth white. Instead of bleaching your teeth, baking soda actually breaks the molecules that stain the teeth. It is less irritating to your gums as well, and way cheaper than teeth whitening strips.

8.    Eat the rainbow- A white bread-based diet does not for clear skin make. That’s why Dr. Shah makes sure his diet is packed with brightly-colored fruits and vegetables.  He says, “Fruits and vegetables are high in antioxidants which give glow to the skin.” Specifically, research suggests that pigments called carotenoids—found in foods like carrots, spinach and other leafy greens, and tomatoes have been linked to good complexions.” Adding fish oil to your diet also improves skin compliance and radiance.

9.    Avoid Hot Showers- Disappointing as it may beDr. Shah says, “Hot showers remove too much of your natural oils and brings blood circulation to your skin, creating inflammatory reactions that result in rashes and aggravate those with eczema or dry patches.”

10. You may just need a brow wax instead of a lift
“I had a patient who wanted a brow lift because she thought she looked angry all the time. I sent her for a brow wax instead. It took 15 minutes, she looked great, and she saved herself thousands.” Other brow techniques like brow tinting can change how your eyebrows frame the eyes, improving on your looks.

Melissa B. Naturally Pumpkin & Coconut Exfoliating Mask Review

I love a good multi-tasking product! Read on to learn more...

Exfoliation is a big part of my skincare routine. It helps to get rid of the dead skin build up on the surface of my skin and also helps my other products work better by allowing them to penetrate deeper into my skin.

I'm a Retin-A user and I find that gentle exfoliators work best for me and they also assist the Retin-A in its job. Because Retin-A works with cell turnover and the exfoliator helps to remove the old skin that has built up on the surface of the skin, in this way, they work hand-in-hand.

I have been using this mask for weeks, and I find this mask rather addicting as its quick and easy and it's 3 steps in one: it works as a cleanser, exfoliator, and a mask! And I love the results that I get - my skin is clearer, brighter, firmer, and more even-toned.

The first time that I used the mask I experienced tingling and some itchiness, yet my skin didn't look irritated or red at all. I spoke to the company about this as I was concerned that maybe I was allergic to one of the ingredients. I was assured by them that this was a very normal reaction to the high concentration of pumpkin enzymes which is a very active ingredient. So, I started out with just leaving the mask on for 5 minutes until my skin became acclimated to it and I can now leave it on for the full 15 minutes.

The consistency on the thinner side, so a little goes a long way. It also has the perfect amount of grit. It's not too abrasive or rough, it's just right. I get the perfect facial every time.

Although this is a cleanser, exfoliator, and mask all in one, if I have the time or inclination for a real pamper session, I will often use another mask afterwards but it's definitely not necessary. Whether I choose to use another mask afterwards or just load on my other skincare product, this exfoliator sets the stage so that the other products will work even better as they will penetrate more deeply into the skin.

I would recommend using this before any event when you want to look fresh faced and bright or anytime you want to give your skin a treat!

This product is both gentle yet effective, which is the perfect combo for me.

Pure + Simple and Holistic Vanity #earthday Celebration Specials!

I have been shopping at Pure and Simple Spa's for a few years now. For the last two years, I have participated in their amazing Earth Day celebration and I already can't wait until next year!

All you have to do is bring in some empty skincare products from any brand for recycling and they will give you 50% off of their products (Maximum 3 products per person.) Included in this sale is the Pure + Simple line, Holistic Vanity as well as their Minimalist line. They have 3 spas in Toronto and  1 in Waterloo. If you live out of town they even offer a mail-in program to participate.

I stocked up on 2 of my favourite skin serums: 100 ml Algae Serum
And I traded in my empty Holistic Vanity Argan oil to try their Camellia Oil: 100 ml Camellia oil
I even received a free sample size of their all-natural deodorant.

Remember, you will get 50% off on Earth Day, April 22nd. If you miss this sale they always have monthly sales on different products, usually 15%-20% off.

I'm excited to try the Camellia oil. It's not only for Rosacea! It's supposed to be very calming to the skin and it has great reviews on their website. After a quick "google" search, I see that Camellia oil has numerous skin benefits and it's non-comedogenic (won't clog pores or cause acne.)

If you're in the Toronto or Waterloo area and want to participate, they are open until 9pm tonight (Waterloo is open until 7 pm.) Or you could call their head office and ask about the mail-in program.

How are you celebrating Earth Day?

(this is not sponsored and I purchased everything with my own money. I just love their products and service!)

Paula's Choice- Anti-agng skin care review: Skin Recovery Replenishing Moisturizer

I received my first order with Paula's Choice the other day. I got a $10 off coupon that I found online plus they had free shipping, so I figured I didn't have much to lose- the $26 skin product I wanted to purchase only ended up costing me $16! I did have to pay a $5 customs/brokerage fee and tax however, but it was still a deal!

Here is what came in my package:

I ordered the Skin Recovery Replenishing Moisturizer ($26 reg) and a nice size at 60ml! The other items are samples and some skin care booklets that all came free with my order.  When you checkout on the website you are able to add 3 free skin care samples of your choice. I'm excited to read the free skin care booklets too, since I'm a total skin care junkie!

Here is the Skin Recovery Replenishing Moisturizer that I started yesterday:

I used the Recovery Moisturizer last night with my Holistic Vanity Argan oil (from Pure and Simple Spa) over top and Pure and Simple's Algae Serum underneath. My skin stayed hydrated until I woke up... I couldn't stop touching my skin! Even with the Argan oil, a lot of my other moisturizers fail to keep my skin moisturized through the night, Paula's Skin Recovery Moisturizer did not disappoint.
This morning I used the Skin Recovery Moisturizer again, this time just over a serum, and without an oil over top. It left the perfect finish to my skin, it looked and felt moisturized, but sunk right in and did not leave any greasy residue. It also left the perfect finish (almost like I had used a primer) for application of my daily BB cream (currently that is the Physicians Formula Super BB),  Usually when I apply this BB cream my skin looks dry underneath, despite my previous moisturizers layered underneath.

It's currently past 5pm and I cannot stop touching my face! And it looks GREAT for a change! So I am excited to say the least, I love me some good skin care. I don't want to get too ahead of myself because I am very acne prone, but *knock on wood, so far so good, I don't see any signs of clogged pores, nor does it feel clogging, and the few spots I have from other skin care samples I tried still seem to be clearing up!

ps. if you are interested, I encourage you to sign up with them as they will send you info on sales as well as coupons for your Birthday etc..

If you want to try Paula's Choice, here is a $10 off coupon for your first order: Paula's Choice coupon
(note: this is an affiliate link and we will both benefit if you use it. After signing up you can also get a $10 off coupon code to share with your friends and family).

Happy Skin care shopping!
