February 2017 Empties: Health, Beauty, Makeup, Skincare!

I haven't done an empties post in so long, so I thought I would partake in one this month. Here is a link to my last empties post if you'd like to see more!

Some of these products are new and some are staples for me, plus there is a little purge that I actually just did today.

I will be as brief as I can with reviews.

Skincare & Hair

Martina Gebhardt Happy Aging Cream
I love Martina Gebhardt products. They are heavy-hitters in skincare. This and their Black Mud Cream are 2 of my favourite skincare products. This cream is very heavy, so I only use it at night. It's deeply hydrating and I find that my skin looks younger overall and it doesn't cause my reactive skin to breakout.

StriVectin-SD Instant Retexturizing Scrub
As an exfoliator this did the job. But, I have products that do that same thing for a fraction of the price. eg. Live Clean's Fresh Face Smoothing Facial Scrub which is vegan and cruelty free. (reviewed here).

Repurchase- No

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water
I use Micellar water daily. This one is gentle yet effective. It removes my face and eye makeup really well.

Repurchase- Yes

Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner
I purchased this mammoth sized bottle of leave-in conditioner years ago at Winners. It was a bargain but next time I will buy a smaller size. I haven't even finished it yet, as I have to transfer the product to a spray bottle since it is a liquid. It's a great product for detangling and adding hydration without weight to your hair. Although it doesn't do much for my frizz, so I still need other products.

Repurchase- Yes

Equate Cleansing and Makeup Removing Towelettes
I did a whole post on these *linked here. This is Walmart's brand of face wipes. They really do the trick in removing my makeup and they don't irritate my reactive skin at all. I do find that when I get down to the last couple of sheets they are pretty much dried out. I usually add some micellar water to them so I can use them up. These are great if you are on a budget or just don't want to spend a lot on an item like this.

Beauty: Other

Essence I <3 Stage Eyeshadow Base
This is my favourite eye primer! It keeps my shadows on and crease-free all day long. It doesn't leave a tacky base so my shadows glide over it really nicely. It's also close to my skin tone, so it acts like a bit of a concealer too. I've had this tube for well over a year, it really lasts! It retails for about $2.99 and is cruelty-free! #winwin

Repurchase- Yes

Sierra Bees Lip Shimmer
Sierra Bees are my favourite lip balms. I've been using them for years. They just recently came out with the lip shimmers. It just has a slight sheen to it, no glitter. I stock up when Sierra Bees lip balms go on sale.

Health & Home

Nature Clean Floor Cleaner 99.7 % Natural
I've been using this floor cleaner for as long as I can remember. It's the only floor cleaner I use. It's safe and natural so if you have pets or small children, you don't have to worry about them getting it on their little paws and hands. I usually purchase mine at a health food store and I think some grocery stores carry it.

Repurchase- Yes
If you're not new to my blog, you've probably seen this product. It's my holy grail toothpaste. It's free of SLS, fluoride, parabens, and gluten. It's also cruelty-free. It contains 25% Xylitol. I have had better check ups since I started using it, so I've never gone back to regular toothpaste. I buy mine on Iherb.com because it's cheaper there, but most health food stores should carry it if you don't want to make an online purchase. It also comes in other mint flavours.

Repurchase- Yes

Nutrition & Supplements

Madre Labs CocoCeps (USDA Organic)
I drink this dark chocolate cocoa powder daily in my morning protein shake. It is unsweetened and has immune boosting, organic reishi and cordyceps mushrooms in it. I wont eat mushrooms but I always want the health benefits of them, this way I get the benefits of the heart-healthy cocoa as well as the mushrooms. NO, you can't taste the mushrooms. This product is free of gluten, dairy, GMO's, sugar, animal ingredients, and soy. (suitable for vegetarians).

Repurchase- Yes

Country Life Coenzyme B-Complex Caps
I tried this B complex based on the great reviews that I read. Everyone is different and this product didn't do anything for me. I find that a B 100 complex works much better for me. This product is gluten free.

Repurchase- No

Now Foods Hawthorn Berry
I used to take this for my heart issues and it worked really well. It's a free radical scavenger, and it regulates the heart and can lower blood pressure. Now that I have to take heart meds, I don't want to mix the two and cause any issues.

Repurchase- Not while I take prescription heart meds otherwise, Yes!

Makeup Purge

Well, I did it. I finally decided to part ways with these two products. They have been given multiple chances and survived many purges, but not this time.

It Cosmetics Vitality Palette
I loved this product! Unfortunately, it is so old that the powders are so hard that cannot pick up any product. I've tried using tape to lift off some of the hard pan and multiple types of makeup brushes but it just doesn't pick up any product anymore. RIP Vitality palette!

Repurchase- Yes

Wet N Wild Comfort Zone Palette
This has a cult following. I never would have purchased it if it wasn't so highly recommended by so many people. It's not a bad palette, I just never reach for it. As you can see, I depotted one shade from the palette because it's unlike any shade I have in my collection. I would describe it as a platinum shade. I would have also depotted the peachy-rose shade too but it's just too crumbly now.  RIP Comfort Zone Palette.

Repurchase- No

Not shown- Isomers Argan hair oil
I'm not sure if this product is even made anymore. I have too many similar products, so I've passed this on to a friend.

Repurchase- No

As someone who is always testing out new products, I find empties very satisfying. In the name of satisfaction, here is my Instagram pic of what I finished up this past December & January.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this month's empties. Let me know what you've decided to part ways with.

Ps. For more blogger fun, come linkup for Monday Makeup Madness!
