September Monthly Beauty Basket! #useitorloseit

Last month I created my first ever Monthly Beauty Basket (Linked here). It worked out so well- I finished 6 out of 7 of the items in the basket! So, I decided to do it again this month.

The products that I fill the basket with are not bad products. I am just choosing products that I want to finish because they are either old, about to expire, expired, or almost finished (by almost finished, I don't mean there's just one use left, I still want this to be a bit of challenge for me).

The problem for me is that I have so many products that they end up on rotation and some even get forgotten about. The basket helps me to use up products before they go bad and end up going to waste.

Products to use up:
  1. Pure & Simple Algae Serum - Getting old (I think I bought 3 when they were on sale!)
  2. Holistic Vanity Camellia Oil - Almost done
  3. NaturaBisse The Cure Sheer Oil-Free Fluid - Old (dang, it's expensive. Luckily, it was a prize!)
  4. Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Dark-Circle Roller- Old & never ends!
  5. Loreal Nutri-Sleek Precious Oils - Old
  6. Tweak-d Self Cleansing Hair Treatment - Almost done (Full review linked here
  7. Annabelle Lipsie in Lychee - Almost done (Review & Swatches linked here)
  8. Vichy Neovadiol Night Cream - Almost done

I keep this basket in my bathroom within arms reach and within sight. This way, it's pretty hard to forget to use them.

I have 8 beauty products this month to focus on and try and finish up. I will do a follow-up post to report on my progress at the end of the month, where I will also report on whether I would repurchase the products or not.

Have you tried this method out? If not, I highly recommend you try it out if you also have trouble finishing up products. Note: I don't keep makeup items in this basket since I do my makeup in another room.

Happy Labour Day, Everyone!

  2. I've never tried this method. It sounds logical but I'm not the most patient person so if I get a new product I want to use it straight away not wait until the end of the month - lol!

    1. I'm exactly the same way which is why I ended up with sooo many products, even before blogging. If I'm currently testing or know I'm going to be testing a product, I wont include that product type. I have a day cream that I didn't include because I knew I was going to be testing a new one. xo

  3. Yes it's going to happen for me Amy - basket is ready (and lined), just gotta choose my products! BTW I've fallen in love with that Peaches & Fresh Cream hair stuff just from your review ♥♥♥

    1. Awesome! I'm still loving the Peaches & Cream hair product but it's going fast. I can't wait to see your basket! Just don't choose a product type if you know you will be testing out that type of product by a different brand. eg. I didn't include my day cream as I knew I'd be testing out a new one. ;) xo

  4. Every month I create a bit of a 'hit list' of products to try and finish too, it's often products I've pushed to the back to make way for new things, embarrassingly sometimes there has only been 2 or 3 uses left!

    1. I think we all do it but I have tons of products "pushed to the back" for new things. That's why I had to create this basket. xo

  5. Can't wait to see what you finish this month Amy! I agree with the too much product statement...I try to stay minimal and only buy what I can finish, but somehow the cabinet keeps getting filled up! Tal xo

    1. I know you do a MUCH better job at being minimal compared to me. I want to but I don't think it will ever happen. I always have to try something new! lol xo

  6. I should do this. I always end up throwing things out instead of actually using them up.

    1. Exactly why I started this. It's really helping me get thru products and waste less :)
